- Obituary -- Reverend Eric Alvin Keister
Pastor Eric A. Keister went to be with the Lord on January 1, 2022 at Raleigh General Hospital.
He was born on March 27, 1952 in Rainelle; he was the son of the late Alvin and Fannie Lee Johnson Keister.
In his early years, he worked in the coal mines for 12 years. He loved to fish and hunt, but mostly loved to be a fisher of men. He loved the Lord. He was a member of the Orient Hill Baptist Church and then he went to First Baptist Church of Rainelle where he was a member also. He became an ordained minister in May 2004 and pastored at Hilton Village Baptist Church for a little over 18 years. He loved to preach and teach God’s word. He would always witness to people wherever he went. Even when he was in the hospital, he would witness to anyone. He always prayed with them before they left his room.
Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Barbara Keister; son, Eric Jason Keister (Cindy Holliday’s son); 2 granddaughters, Kayla Keister and Kirstie Keister ; one grandson, Mason Keister.; two great granddaughters, Rylee Payge Skaggs and Karli Alexis Walker; two sisters, Linda Gilkerson (Gene) and Jennifer Wise (Phil); one nephew, Devin Gilkerson (Erin) ; one niece, Dayna Gilkerson Shannon (Edward) ; special friend, David (Barb’s nephew) and Alicia Robinson ; brother –in-law, Wayne and Linda Robinson; sister-in-law, Bonnie Robinson; nephews, Jimmy, Brian, Billy and niece, Angie; his little companion Ruffy.
He also leaves behind extended relatives and friends who have been there for him throughout the years.
There will be a memorial service at a later date at Hilton Village Baptist Church.
