- Obituary --Annabel Phillips Burns
Annabel Phillips Burns of Lewisburg, formerly of Charleston, passed away August 6, 2015.
She was born in Bidwell, Gallia Co., Ohio on January 31, 1922 to Fred and Nelle McCarley Phillips, who preceded her in death, as did her husband of 64 years Leslie L. Burns, sister Willanelle Burke, brother Laurence E. Phillips and great grandson Austin Abbitt.
She is survived by two daughters, ..., six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and three great, great grandchildren.
She graduated valedictorian from Dunbar High School and also graduated from Charleston School of Commerce. In later years she attended the University of Charleston. She was a member of Baptist Temple in Charleston and led the bible study for her Women's Circle for more than 20 years.
She held memberships in Sunrise Art Museum, Huntington Museum of Art, Berry Hills Country Club and was an associate member of Women's Kanawha Literary Club.
She enjoyed traveling, ballroom dancing, tennis, golf and gardening.
A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of Baptist Temple in Charleston at 11:00am on August 29th. A graveside service will be held at the Calvary Methodist Church Cemetery on Rt. 60, Richlands, Lewisburg at 4:00pm on August 29th.
