RONCEVERTE ? Watha Moses Simmons, age 87, passed away Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at the Brier Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Ronceverte.
Born June 6, 1921, at Rainelle, Watha was the daughter of the late Wert E. Moses and Nellie Shockley Moses.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Kyle W. Moses and a grandson, Matthew Simmons.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph C. Simmons; a son, Kyle C. Simmons and wife, Lynda, of Clintonville; a daughter, Carol Clark Pope and husband, Lanny of Catawba, N.C.; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Kathleen Shoemaker of Belle; and several nieces. Also surviving is her special friend, Mary McMillion and caregivers, Laressa Bostic and Jessica Bostic, of the Brier Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
A service of remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2009, at Wallace Memorial Mausoleum Chapel at Clintonville, with Rev. Jeff Kanode officiating. Entombment will follow in Wallace Memorial mausoleum.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at the mausoleum.
