CORVALLIS - Marguerite Faith Beeler 85, of Salem, died Sunday, Jan. 8 at Park Place Assisted Living in Corvallis. She was born on Dec. 2, 1920 to Bruce and Loshie (Crane) Fetters in Bell Burn, West Virginia. Marguerite attended nursing school and on January 15, 1943, enlisted in the United States Army and served as a general duty nurse until her honorable discharge November 12, 1946.
She married Raymond L. Beeler in Texas on April 23, 1948. The couple made their home in Portland, Oregon from 1953 to 1967 then moved to Salem, Oregon where she resided until moving to Albany to be near her son in 2002.
Marguerite was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Salem and enjoyed doing volunteer work both at her church and in her community and she enjoyed gardening and cooking.
She is survived by two sons; Charles Beeler of Albany and David Beeler of Salem; one grandchild, and a sister-in-law, Ellen Fetters of Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, daughter, Nancy, two sisters and two brothers.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Fri., Jan. 13, 2006 at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland and a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Wed., Jan. 18, at the First Presbyterian Church in Salem. Arrangements by AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home, (www.aasumfuneralhome.com).
