Joseph Thurmond McClung, 82, of Charleston passed away Oct. 12, 2002, in St. Francis Hospital, Charleston, after a long illness. He was retired from the West Virginia Department of Employment Security and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Charleston, Charleston Masonic Lodge 53 AF&AM, Scottish Rite bodies, Beni Kedem Shrine, the Legion of Honor and Disabled American Veterans. Surviving are his wife, Wanda Walker McClung; brother, Alvaro R. "Mac" McClung Jr. of Clendenin. Graveside service and entombment will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at Elk Hills Memorial Mausoleum, Big Chimney, with the Rev. Douglas Heidt officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 16 Leon Sullivan Way, Charleston, WV 25301-2487, or Shriners Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 2589, Charleston, WV 25329-2589.
