PHIPPS FUNERAL IS SET FOR DAMERON
Pneumonia Is Fatal To Lanark Man After Short Illness
John Jefferson Phipps, 56-year old farmer of Dameron, died at his home Thursday night following a month's illness of influenza and pneumonia.
Phipps was born at Maynor in September 1880, the son of Jess Phipps and Mrs. Zora Vaughn Phipps. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, and a life long resident of Raleigh county.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Etta Phipps, of Maynor; two sons, Virgil Phipps, of Corrine; Everett Phipps, Maynor; five daughters, Mrs. Lacy Phipps, Sophia; and Misses Zora Phipps, Edith Phipps, Othleen Phipps, and Ruth Phipps, all of Maynor; three brothers all of Maynor, George, Ward and Ace Phipps; and five sisters, Mrs. John Billups, Cirtsville; Mrs. Norval Pittman, Daniel; Mrs. Cart Stover, Stover; Mrs. Vesper Dillon, Maynor; and Mrs. Jonnie Bailey, of Sophia. He also leaves five grand children.
Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Mr. Adkins at the home in Dameron this morning at ten o'clock. Interment will be made in the family cemetery.
