WILLIAMSBURG - George Lewis, 90, died Thursday, June 16, at a Greenbrier care center following a long illness.
Born February 1898, at Cordova, he was the son of the late William Frank and Mary Matilda Lewis.
Mr. Lewis was a farmer and a member of Sinking Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Crane Lewis; four, daughters, Wanda Blankenship of Williamsburg, Mary Walton of Hillsboro, Lula Belle McCormick of Roanoke, Va., and Bethleen McCoy of Renick; seven sons, Robert Lewis of Williamsburg, Bradford and Lacy Lewis, both of Renick, Holbert Lewis of Alderson, Sidney Lewis of Dallastown, Pa., Orville Lewis of York, Pa., and Harrison Lewis of Seven Valley, Pa.; a brother, Howard Lewis of Renick; a sister, Gillie Lewis of Frankford; 38 grandchildren, eight stepgrandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Jack K. Wallace Funeral Home Chapel with the Leroy Crane and Marshall Cochran officiating. Burial will be in Ellis Chapel Cemetery at Brushy Flat near Renick.
Friends may call today after 3 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Jack K. Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg.
