Notes - A popular family story tells of Robert and Sarah eloping. One night, Robert came to Sarah's home and placed a ladder by her bedroom window on the second floor. As Sarah was climbing out the window, she lost one of her shoes. Not wanting to wake her parents, Robert told her to ignore the shoe, he would buy her another pair later.
Robert was a short-tempered man, according to stories left by his children.

And possibly an item or two of news may not be out of the way: We learn that the family of Mr. Robert Blagg, who resides on Salt Lick, were poisoned a few days ago. It is supposed that some person put arsenic into the meal used by the family, and had they not eaten heartily of it, the Doctor thinks it would have proved fatal. A little of the meal, fed to a dog and some chickens, killed them almost instantly. The family are improving, but Mrs. Blagg is still very dangerously ill.

Congressman Hamilton has obtained favorable action by the Pension Bureau on the claim of the heirs of Robert S. Blagg of Braxton County for a pension. The claim has been pending since 1898 but it was only after Mr. Hamilton took hold of it that action was had by the Pension Bureau. The heirs will receive the following amounts: Marion L. Blagg, $85.60; Henry H. Blagg, $412.53; Mary M. Blagg, $1175.27.
