Beckley Man Held In Death
BECKLEY - State Police here said they had been informed that Charles Kaiser of Beckley was arrested by authorities in Wayne, Mich., early today.
Kaiser was arested on a warrant issued West Virginia authorities charging him with murder in the death of a 27-year-old Mabscott soldier killed while he was at home on leave.
State Police Sgt. W. E. Webb of Beckley said that during a fight between Kaiser and Pfc. Dewey Rollyson at Mabscott on Monday, Rollyson received a blow on the head from a pop bottle which caused his death two days later.
Webb said the soldier went home after the fight and the next day lapsed into a coma. He was taken to a hospital where he died Wednesday afternoon.
Kaiser, a driver for Automobiles Transportation Inc., of Beckley, had gone to Wayne prior to Rollyson's death and authorities were requested to apprehend and hold him.
Webb said local authorities would leave sometime today to return the man. He said Kaiser had waived extradition.
