  The Register-Herald, Beckley, WV, Online Edition, 14 Dec 2008 Lorene Crowe, 90, of Rainelle, passed away Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at her home, following a long illness. Born on July 2, 1918, at Caldwell, she was the daughter of the late Matthew H. and Bessie Lipps Hunter. Mrs. Crowe was a homemaker and was of the Pentecostal faith. She was a member of the Red Springs Community Church on Backus Mountain. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Grady Crowe; a son, Grant; two brothers, Paul and Homer Hunter; and a sister, Virgie Gilkerson. Survivors include her adopted daughter, Shirley Snead and husband Howard of Rainelle; three grandchildren, Michael Snead and wife Leslie of Quinwood, Roger Snead and wife Tammy of Lenoir, N.C., and Lisa Judy and husband Wayne of Rainelle; five great-grandchildren, Derek Snead of Meadow Bridge, Michael Snead Jr. of Quinwood, Kenneth Moretz of Lenoir, N.C., Daniel and David Judy, both of Rainelle; one nephew; one niece; and a precious pet, Duchess. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, at Smathers Funeral Chapel, with Sister Shirley Fox and Brother Sherman McCombs officiating. Burial will follow in the Wickline Cemetery at Meadow Bridge. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Arrangements by Smathers Funeral Chapel, Rainelle.
