LAYLAND - John William Pitsenberger, 85, died Monday, Nov. 9, 1998, at his home following a long illness.
Born Dec. 17, 1912, in Carl, he was the son of the late Joseph Marshall Pitsenberger and Sadie Florence Meadows Pitsenberger.
Mr. Pitsenberger was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II, was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Mabel Carter, Zelma Gunnoe, Ethel Cross and Berthel Pitsenberger; and two brothers, Joseph and George.
Survivors include his wife, Freda Hobbs Pitsenberger; a daughter, Cathy Fox and her husband, Jimmy, of Layland; a son, Curtis Pitsenberger and his wife, Betty, of Danese; three sisters, Thelma Fox and Dorothy Fitzwater, both of Maplewood, and Bethel Amick of Leivasy; and five grandchildren: Jason, Bethany, and Paul Fox, and Lanna and Lorra Pitsenbarger.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home Chapel, Rainelle, with the Revs. Clyde Gum and Sherman McComb officiating. Burial will follow in Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home in Rainelle.
