Nancy Lee "Nana" Nelson, 76, of Layland, died June 16, 2003, in Charleston Area Medical Center, Memorial Division, following a short illness.
Born Aug. 1, 1926, at Thayer, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mable Theresa Pitsenbarger Carter. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Alden Nelson, in 1996, and a sister, Frankie Spinks.
Mrs. Nelson was a former inspector for a clothing manufacturer.
Survivors include three daughters, Donna Stofan and her husband, Leonard, of Layland, Dottie Boothe and her husband, Richard, of Layland, and Josetta Porach and her husband, Pete, of Cleveland, Ohio; stepdaughters, Dreama Michaels, Kathleen Kachur and Barbara Edgehouse, all of Cleveland; sons, Raymond Jainniney Jr. and his wife, Debbie, of Polk, Ohio, and Joshua Towner of Layland; stepson, Timothy Nelson of Cleveland; sister, Betty Adams of Corliss; brother, Charles William Carter of Apopca, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and Brenda Fox, Becky Fogg, Kathleen Lawrence and Scott Fogg, whom she cared for.
Service was June 21 at Wallace & Wallace Chapel, Rainelle, with the Rev. Sherman McCombs officiating. Burial followed in Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.
