Trenton Ray Clutter, 14, of 143 Kammerer Drive, Statesville, died Saturday evening, Sept. 4, 2004, at his home following a three-year courageous battle with cancer.
Trenton was born Feb. 4, 1990, in Summersville, W.Va, and was the son of Timmy Ray Clutter and Amy Jeanette Vanpelt Clutter. He had attended Union Grove Elementary School and North Iredell Middle School, where he was a member of the Junior Beta Club, the chorus and the band. He was able to attend opening day in August at North Iredell High School and was a member of the band and the Fellowship of Christian Students.
Trenton was a member of Calvary Baptist Church but had attended Grassy Knob Baptist Church. In addition to his Dad and Mom, he is survived by a sister, Elisha Lacy Clutter of the home; maternal grandmother Lina J. Hamrick of Webster Springs, W.Va.; paternal grandmother Gayle Clutter of Webster Springs, W.Va.; a very special aunt and uncle, Buffy Stanley and Dwanye Stanely of Sophia, N.C.; and by many other aunts and uncles, Bill and Geraldine Cochran of Elkins, W.Va.; Timothy Cochran of West Virginia, Penny D. Given of Bergoo, W.Va., James and Juanita Clutter of Bolgir, W.Va., Jerry and Wanda Clutter of Craigsville, W.Va., Carol and Eddie Cochran of Webster Springs, W.Va., Karen Clutter and Eddie Carpenter of Webster Springs, W.Va., John and Terri Clutter of Cowen, W.Va., Johnni and Shannon McCourt of Webster Springs, and David and Angi Clutter of Webster Springs. He is also survives by numerous cousins.
Funeral services for Trenton will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grassy Knob Baptist Church with the Rev. James Miles and the Rev. Steve Pope officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Timmy Clutter, Dwayne Stanley, Marty Hicks, Doug Addis, Corey Lowther and James Shetley. Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Tomlin and Bradley Holland. The family will be assembled at the residence but will receive friends at Nicholson Funeral Home on Tuesday evening 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
