Glenna L. Kesler, 81, of Ansted, passed away at her residence Friday, April 24, 2009, following a long illness.
She was born July 26, 1927, in Ansted, W.Va., and was a daughter of the late Harry R. Skaggs and Russie L. McClung Skaggs.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie B. Kesler, Jr., (Jiggs) on June 10, 1987; a son-in-law, Jerry Caudill; a sister, Inez Foster; a sister-in-law, Edith Carte; and brothers-in-law, Jack Bibb, Eb Delp, and Elwood Maples.
On March 13, 1938, Glenna became a member of Hopewell Baptist Church at Hopewell, W.Va. During this time, she held many offices and was a faithful and loyal member. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Ansted #134 and was a past worthy matron. She was a member of the CEOS and was a postal clerk with the U.S. Postal Service.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Gerriann K. Fair and Tom of Victor, Karen Elaine Caudill of Louisville, Ky., and Carla Louise Lucas and Fred of Victor; a son, Willie B. Kesler III and his wife, Linda, of Clifftop; nine grandchildren, Deanna and Tim Gill, Beth and Wayne Queen, Mindy and Thomas Ewing, Holly Tompkins, Joy and Steve Simms, Eddie and Julie Boyd, Katie Kesler, Bo Kesler, and Amy and Tony Munno; 19 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Jean Delp of Orange Park, Fla., Betty Maples of Oak Hill, and Marilene Bibb of Ansted; three brothers and sisters-in-law, H. Ralph Skaggs and Lou of McDonough, Ga., Mercel Skaggs and Kay of Leesburg, Va., and Rodnal Skaggs and Joan of Claremont, N.C.; a brother-in-law, Lonnie and Gladys Foster of Mt. Lookout; and care givers, Evelyn Holden and Alice Keeney, and Erin, Barb, and Pat of ARH.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at Hopewell Baptist Church, with Pastor Mason Wilson and Pastor Mike Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Kesler Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery at Hico.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. today.
There will be an OES Service at 8 p.m. tonight.
Pallbearers will be Tom Fair, Fred Lucas, Bo Kesler, Tim Gill, Tom Ewing, and Wayne Queen.
