MEADOW BRIDGE — Darrell Wayne Pomeroy, 62, of Meadow Bridge, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at home following a sudden illness.
Born July 9, 1949, in Hinton, he was the son of Verta Lou Jones and the late Elmer Lawrence Pomeroy, Jr.
Darrell was a proud coal miner for 25 years and a member of the UMWA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, football, and guitar music. He was a member of Bellwood Baptist Church of Bellwood.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Jean Sexton Pomeroy of Meadow Bridge; his mother, Verta Lou Jones Pomeroy of Meadow Bridge; two sons, Michael Wayne Pomeroy of Meadow Bridge and Rodney Dean Pomeroy of Landisburg; and three grandchildren, Felicia, Dillon, and Madison.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, September 18, 2011, at the Wallace & Wallace Chapel in Rainelle with Pastor John Wyatt officiating. Entombment will follow at the Wallace Memorial Mausoleum in Clintonville.
Pallbearers will be Dillon Pomeroy, Logan Pomeroy, Chris Pomeroy, Donnie Pomeroy, Brian Herndon, and Johnny Mullins. Honorary pallbearer will be Charles Richard Flint.
Friends may call from 1 until 2:30 p.m., on Sunday, September 18, 2011, at the funeral home.
