GOLDEN M. "PAW-DADDIE" PETTRY, SR., 88, of Arnett, Raleigh County, died Monday at home after a long a long illness. He was a former schoolteacher and miner. He was a veteran of World War I and was a graduate of Machinist Mate School of Newport News, Va. and was a master mechanic. Surviving: wife, Jessie Wills Pettry; daughter, Mrs. Katrina Wills of Arnett; sons, Golden Jr. and Rev. Michael Pettry, of Glen Daniel; sister, Etta Ray Akers of Vickers; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Arnett Chapel with the Rev. Michael F. Pettry and the Rev. Willie August officiating. Burial will be in Pettry family cemetery, Pine Branch Road, Arnett. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the Pettry residence. Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville, is in charge of arrangements.
