  The Charleston Gazette, 30 May 1988 Mrs. Effie Byars, 74, of Herndon Heights, Wyoming County, died May 27, 1988, in a Charlottesville, Va., hospital after a long illness. She was a 48-year resident of Herndon Heights and a member of Herndon Freewill Baptist Church. Surviving: daughters, Bonnie Fietkiewicz of New Market, Md., Mildred M. Schackel of Graham, Wash., Linda Travis of Fayetteville, N .C., Geneva Byars of Hampton, Va., Capt. Rita McNeely with the U.S .Air Force in West Germany; sons, Ronald K. of Herndon, Teddie G. of Staunton, Va., Bruce C. of Lewisburg; sister, Elsie Green of Welch; brother, Fred Sizemore of Wolf Pen; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Herndon Freewill Baptist. Church with the Rev. William O. Tolliver officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.
