Ronceverte - Melvin O'Brien, 87, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at the Brier Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ronceverte.
Born June 24, 1916, in Greenbrier County, he was the son of the late Con and Ethel Kelly O'Brien.
Mr. O'Brien was a member of the First Church of God in Ronceverte and was a self-employed contractor and farmer.
He was preceded in death by: two sons, Mike and M.D. "Chick" O'Brien; two stepsons, Marvin and George Ambler; sister, Virginia O'Brien; five brothers, Cecil, Earl, Joe, his twin brother, Mike, and Paul O'Brien.
Survivors include: son, Bill O'Brien of Ronceverte; stepdaughter, Mildred Neuner of Ronceverte; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 19, at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Ronceverte where Rev. Gene Cook officiated. Burial was in the Hanger-Welch Cemetery.
