Smith Funeral Scheduled Today
RAINELLE (RNS) ? Funeral services for Carl E. Smith were to be conducted at 2 p.m. today in the Big Sewell Baptist Church, of which he was a member, by the Rev. Donald Fields, the Rev. Henry Loving, and the Rev. Joe E. Smith.
Burial was to be in the Wallace Cemetery, Clintonville.
Smith, 53, died in his Rainelle home at 9 p.m. Sunday after an 11-month illness.
He was employed by the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway as a conductor and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen Lodge. He had been employed by the C&O for the past 36 years.
Born at Springdale, Nov. 28, 1905, Smith was a son of the late Joseph Harvey and Jane Sims Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lena Callison Smith, three brothers, the Rev. Joe E. Smith of Hines, and George and Clarence, both of Rainelle; a sister, Mrs. Elsie Lawson of McArthur; three sons, Keith and Bill, both of Rainelle, and Don at home; and three grandchildren.
The Nickell Funeral Home, East Rainelle, had charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were to be Garland, Walter, Shelton, Pat, and Gayol Smith, and Roy Gilkeson.
