RUPERT ? George Clifford Sims, 74, of Rupert, passed away Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at his home, following a long illness.
Born on Nov. 27, 1931, at Rainelle, he was the son of the late George and Dicie Sanford Sims.
Mr. Sims was an auto mechanic and did body work. He was a United States Army veteran who served in Germany in 1953-1954. He was also a member of the Lilly Baptist Church in Rainelle where he served as Deacon.
Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Rita; an infant son, Michael; two brothers, David and Frankie; and a sister, Sylvia ?Chris? Barlow.
Survivors include two sons, David and wife Kathy and granddaughter, Heather of Hines, and Danny at home; three sisters, Glenna Boggs and husband Paul of Rupert, Shirley Jones and husband Steve of Charleston, and Virginia Hudkins of Rainelle; a brother-in-law, Eugene Barlow of Fairfax, Va.; a sister-in-law, Andrea ?Cookie? Sims of Rupert; a special friend, Glenda Killen of Rupert; eight nieces and one nephew.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Smathers Funeral Chapel, Rainelle, with Pastor Don Bean officiating. Burial will follow in the McElhenny Cemetery at Grassy Meadows.
The family requests that donations of sympathy be made to the Lilly Baptist Church at 929 Valley Ave., Rainelle, WV 25962, or to Greenbrier Valley Hospice at 540 N. Jefferson St., Box 7, Suite D, Lewisburg, WV 24901.
Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home today.
