RAINELLE ? Eva Lenora Gillespie, 78, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006, in the Memorial Division of Charleston Area Medical Center following a short illness.
Born Sept. 19, 1928, in Rocky Mount, Va., she was the daughter of the late George B. and Mary Ella Hash Brammer. Her family moved to West Virginia in 1933.
Mrs. Gillespie was a homemaker, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 4884 in Rainelle and a lifelong member of Little Sewell Baptist Church in Crag. She was known for her quilting. Mrs. Gillespie received acknowledgment from Greenbrier County Inter Agency for her volunteer efforts in December 2000. Her smile was a constant and will be missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Howard Gillespie; two sons, Glen R. and Norman J. Gillespie; two daughters, Peggy D. Bragg and Lois Pittman; a brother and three sisters.
Survivors include a daughter, Arlene Tincher and husband, Richard, of Smoot; a sister, Louise Sawyers and husband, Ned, of Baltimore, Md.; seven grandchildren, Joe Brinelle and wife, Cristy, of Norman, Okla., Greg Brinelle and wife, Rachel, of Oklahoma City, Okla., Howard W. Tincher of Rainelle, Mary L. Wickline and husband, Steve, of Sullivan, Mo., Eddie Ray Burns of Williamsburg, Rodney Gillespie and wife, Angie, of South Carolina and Roger Gillespie and wife, Lisa, of Jumping Branch; 10 great-grandchildren and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Smathers Funeral Chapel, Rainelle, with Pastor Joe Collins and Pastor Don Bean officiating. Burial will follow in Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
