A Miss Louise Blagg And Henry Atwater, Married A marriage ceremony marked by sweet simplicity was performed at the First Reformed church of the city Saturday afternoon at 5 o'clock by the Rev. Banks J. Peeler, the pastor, when Miss Louise Elizabeth Blagg became the bride of Henry Anderson Atwater. The church was simply, but artistically and tastefully decorated in palms and ferns. Against this background of green, baskets of Easter lilies, white snapdragons and valley lilies were used, with seven-branched candelabra holding white cathedral candles placed on each side of the altar. On the piano a beautiful arrangement of gardenias and fern completed the lovely setting for the quiet wedding. The bride was attractive in a going-away suit of navy monotone crepe, with three-quarter length coat. All of her accessories were navy with a touch of white, she wore a shoulder corsage of orchids and valley lilies. The bride and bridegroom entered together, and were met by the pastor at the chapel where the vows were spoken. The beautiful and Impressive ring ceremony of the Reformed church was used. Mrs. Atwater is the attractive and accomplished daughter of Mrs. Alma Faust Blagg, and the late W. C. Blagg. She attended school at the North Carolina college for Women and is popular among the younger set here. Mr. Atwater is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James M. Atwater, of Burlington. He attended school at the University of North Carolina and Eastman college at Poughkeepsle, N. Y. He is associated with his father, and is vice president of the Alamance Lumber company. Both the bride and bridegroom are from distinguished and wellknown families of Burlington, and their friends throughout the state and other states will receive with keen interest the announcement of their wedding. Mr. and Mrs. Atwater left immediately after the ceremony for an extended trip to Florida, and after February 21, they will be at home in Fountain Place, Burlington.

High Noon Rites Read

In a high noon ceremony yesterday in Burlington, N.C., Miss Louise Anderson Atwater, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Anderson Atwater, became the bride of Joseph Charles Gould, son of Brig. Gen. and Mrs. M. Joseph Gould, of Clearwater. The Rev. Walter C. Ball officiated at the rites at Front Street Methodist Church.

Floor baskets of white gladioli and pompons, and altar vases of the same flowers and ferns, in background of Kentia palms provided the decorations. Mrs. Chester Alexander, organist, and James Chamblee, vocalist, presented a program of wedding music.

Mr. Atwater gave his daughter in marriage. She wore a white gown of Chantilly lace with a fitted jacket, covering a strapless bodice. The waltz-length skirt was fashioned of triple tiers of lace over taffeta. She carried a white, lace-covered prayerbook, topped with a white orchid and showered with valley lilies.

Miss Audrey Allen, of Coral Gables, attended as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were the Misses Jane Elder and Patricia Gordon, both of Burlington. All wore dresses of sapphire blue, in pure silk crystalette, made with draped bodlces and fall skirts. They carried colonial nosepays of white roses and carnations, with blue delphinium and white gypsophilis.

Honorary bridesmaids were the Misses Jean Foster, Joan Foster, Mary Anne Smith, Mona Hoffman and Rebecca Neel, all of Burlington.

Robert William Gould, Clearwater, served his brother as best man. Usher-groomsmen were Henry Atwater, brother of the bride, Thomas B. DeLoache, Burlington; James Atwater, Greensboro, and Alan Morehouse, Jacksonville.

Following the ceremony the bride's parents entertained at a wedding breakfast at their home.

When the couple left for a wedding trip the bride wore a two-piece yellow suit with a knife-pleated skirt of Italian raw silk and cotton. Her accessories were black and her corsage an orchid.

Mr. and Mrs. Gould will reside at 213 Northwest 25th St., Gainesville, after Sept. 1.

Louise Atwater Gould, born May 25, 1935 in Burlington, NC, passed away on August 7 in Dunedin, FL.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Joseph, her daughter Susan Gould, daughter-in-law Susan S. Gould, granddaughter Lindsay Gould, grandson Justin Gould, brother Henry Atwater and many other beloved relatives.

She was predeceased by her son Michael Gould.

Louise treasured her family and loved nothing better than big holiday get-togethers. If you were a friend of Louise's, you were a lucky person. She would do anything for her friends and was generous with her time and energy, which was considerable. Louise was a force of nature, and lit up a room when she entered. She was a travel agent for many years and visited destinations around the globe.

She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

A ceremony will not be held due to the pandemic.
