COLUMBIA, S.C. — Judy Evelyn McClung Pizzey, beloved wife of Nick, died Thursday, June 21, 2012, after a period of illness which she fought with fortitude and humor.
Judy was born the daughter of the late Philip and Mary Vella McClung in Spring Dale, W.Va., on March 18, 1950.
She graduated from Meadow Bridge High School, WV, 'Salutatorian' in 1968 before enrolling at University of South Carolina, Columbia, S.C., from where she earned both Bachelor of Science in Education and Master of Education degree.
Judy taught at Dreher High School, Columbia, SC, where she was a highly regarded, talented and respected teacher. Judy was a person of great integrity and compassion.
Judy was much loved, highly intelligent, articulate and funny. She embraced all knowledge and particularly loved books, music, dance and the opportunity to travel and learn that living in Richmond upon Thames, England, and Singapore gave her.
She is greatly missed by her loving husband Nick, by her sisters Linda and Debbie, her brothers Paul and Richard, her sister-in-law Caro, her U.S. and English families and friends worldwide.
The family is overwhelmingly grateful to Carol, Michelle, Linda, Doris, Wilma, Debbie and their colleagues at Carroll Campbell Place for the love and care shown to Judy.
Family flowers only but memorial donations may be made to Carroll Campbell Place, Lexington Medical Center Extended Care, 815 Old Cherokee Road, Lexington, SC 29072.
A service to celebrate the life of Judy will take place at Woodridge Memorial Park Gazebo Chapel, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC 29072, at 11 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2012.
A gathering of Judy's UK Family and Friends will take place, in England, at a later date.
Woodridge Funeral Home, Columbia, S.C., is serving the family.
