Deloris Hope Steele Hayslette

MT. LOOKOUT, WV - Deloris Hope Steele Hayslette, 92, of Rainelle (formerly of Mt. Lookout) passed away Thursday morning, September 3, 2015, at Heartland of Rainelle, following a long illness. Born June 9, 1923, at Jodie, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Tilden and Annie Loucreasy Legg Steele. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Clarence Preston "Paz" Hayslette in 1989, a son, Clarence Allen Hayslette, one sister, Virginia Steele Barker Nutter, one brother, Harry Douglas "Mousie" Steele, and a dear niece, Jeannine Beam.
She enjoyed cooking, tending to her flower gardens and feeding the birds, especially hummingbirds. Hope loved spending time with family and friends. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend.
Survivors include 2 daughters: Carol Vannatter & husband George of Mt. Lookout, WV and Brenda Gilkeson of Rainelle, WV. 4 grandchildren: Lisa Rupe & husband Steve of Louisville, KY;
Melissa Vannatter Williams of Mt. Lookout, WV; Tag Gilkeson of Dallas, Texas; Tara Lynn Gilkeson Sorrells & husband Ryan of Dallas, Texas; 7 great-grandchildren: Samantha Kennedy, Steven Rupe, Tiana Dawn Rupe, Brandon Williams, Victoria Alexis Gilkeson, Tristan Anthony Gilkeson, and Stella Claire Sorrells; 1 great-great grandchild: Nathan Waterbury; 2 sisters: Nona Belle Bays of Mt. Lookout, WV and Mary Anne Higdon of Cananadaigua, NY; 1 brother: Leonard T. Steele of Mt. Lookout, WV; numerous nieces and nephews and a very special friend & caregiver: Judy Ballangee along with her 3 grandaughters, who felt Hope was their grandmother.
There will be a graveside service at 2:00 PM Sunday, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Mt. Lookout, West Virginia, with Elder John Foster officiating.Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, Mt. Lookout, beside her husband and son. Friends may call from 6 to 8PM Saturday evening at Wallace & Wallace Chapel in Rainelle.
