MEADOW BRIDGE '97 Curtis Robert Richmond, 82, of Meadow Bridge, passed away Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, at his home, following a long illness.
Born Feb. 13, 1928, at Meadow Bridge, he was the last of the Arville E. (Bob) and Lena Walker Richmond family.
Curtis was a retired miner and a member of the U.M.W.A.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Akers Richmond; two sons, Roger and James (Bimbo) Richmond; two grandsons, C.C. and Gregory Berry; two brothers, Jimmy and Carlos Richmond; and a sister, Mary Lilly.
Survivors include a son, Curtis Richard Richmond and wife, Joyce, of Louisa, Va.; a daughter, Helen Wagner and husband, Kenneth, of Partlow, Va.; six grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, in the Wallace Memorial Cemetery at Clintonville.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today, Friday, at the Smathers Funeral Chapel in Rainelle.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
