Elizabeth Virginia Hostetter Conner Johnson, 92, of Lexington, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at the Benjamin Borden Health Center.
Born February 5, 1919 in Rockbridge County, she was a daughter of the late George Mays Hostetter and Florence Elizabeth Seay Hostetter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of thirty one years, Henry Jefferson Conner, Jr.; a son, Henry M. Conner; three sisters, Vanita H. Craft, Regina Hostetter, and Florence H. Vest; a step-son, Tommy W. Roberson, two sons-in-law David Wright, Donald Lewis; and one daughter-in-law, Judy M. Conner.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Lauderdale ARP Church, where she sang in the choir.
Elizabeth retired from Highs Ice Cream in Lexington, where she was the manager.
Surviving are her husband, Frank A. Johnson of Lexington; children, Thomas E. Conner and wife, Mary of Natural Bridge; Joyce C. Moneymaker and husband, Frank of Hopewell; Ellen C. Agnor and husband, Robert of Fairfield; Gloria C. Lewis of Dinwiddie; Patricia C. Wright of Glasgow; Wayne T. Conner and wife, Barbara of Buchanan; one sister, Ellen H. Harris of Lexington; two daughters-in-law, Norma Conner of Buchanan; Tonya Roberson of Greenville; nineteen grandchildren; twenty seven great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, February 3, 2012 at Lauderdale ARP Church with the Rev. Benjamin W. Dowling, III and the Rev. Randy Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2012 at Harrison Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Lexington First Aid, 708 South Main St., Lexington, VA 24450 or to the Lauderdale ARP Church, 300 South Main St., Lexington, VA 24450.
