CHARLES N. BISHOP
Charles Nicholas Bishop, 74, of 816 Parkview Ave., died Saturday morning (Jan. 28, 1984) in King's Daughters' Hospital.
He was born Dec. 28, 1909 in Albemarle County, a son of Robert Lewis and Rachel (Tyler) Bishop.
He retired in 1972 from Du Pont in Waynesboro after 37 years of service and was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Charlotte (Bradshaw) Bishop; a son, Charles N. Bishop Jr. of Staunton; a daughter, Mrs. S. Henley Carter Jr. of Staunton; three sisters, Mrs. Violet B. Payne, Mrs. Ruby B. Bishop and Mrs. Isa B. Kennedy Grove, all of Staunton; three grandchildren.
A service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday in Thornrose Cemetery by Dr. J.H.J. Vernon.
The family will receive friends from 3-6 p.m. today at the residence of his son at 38 Woodlee Road.
Pallbearers will be John E. Stoddard Jr., William L. Morrison, Oscar R. Holtz, Curtis T. Wood, J. Calvin Wood, John D. Wood, Herbert W. Chew and Lewis C. Cash.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, Staunton-West Augusta Unit, in care of Mrs. H.S. Hulvey, memorial chairman, Rt. 1, Box 20, Fort Defiance, Va. 24437 or the Staunton-Augusta Rescue Squad, 1601 N. Coalter St., Staunton, Va. 24401.
