  Beckley Post-Herald, Beckley, WV, Wednesday, 3 Jul 1974, p. 23, col. 1 Car Wreck Fatal To W.E. McClung CANVAS (RNS) - A old Nicholas County man died of injuries received in a one car accident near Canvas day evening in a Summersvilli hospital. Police said Walter E. McClung of Canvas had purchased a 1972 car from a Summersville car dealer and was driving home when he lost control of the car and plunged over an embankment earlier Monday. Police said his brother George McClung Jr., a passenger in the car, was treated and released at a Summersville hospital. McClung was a lifelong resident of Nicholas County, was a timberman and was a veteran of World War II. Other survivors include his mother, Mrs. Mary Underwood McClung of Canvas; one brother, John David of Canvas, and two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Ward of Canvas and Mrs. Lovie Hannah of Rupert. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Howard White Funeral Home in Summersville with Rev. Rex Ball in charge. Burial will be in the McClung Family Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 today.
