ST. JOSEPH - Kathy passed away peacefully in her home on her 68th birthday Friday September 17th, 2021, surrounded by loved ones, following a three-year battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00am on Thursday September 30th, 2021, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in St. Joseph, MN.
Kathy was born Kathryn Janet Nelson on September 17th, 1953 in Spokane, WA to LeRoy and Theresa (Kascak) Nelson. On December 28th, 1974, Kathy married Mark Lodermeier at St. Joseph's Catholic Church and they made their home in St. Joseph. She had a bachelor's degree from St. Cloud State University, and license to teach Art and Special Education K-12. Kathy taught in Becker Public Schools for 29 of her 33 years of teaching. She enjoyed camping trips, fishing, swimming, helping inspire others as a teacher and then later in life through arts and crafts with friends and family.
Kathy loved being a Mom, and enjoyed her promotion to Grandma more, and everyone had their own special bonds with her. She enjoyed her time with her sorority sisters in Beta Signa Phi, from events to community service.
She always enjoyed time spent with family and friends and collected many bonus family members along the way with her big heart. She made it a point to celebrate every single holiday, but Christmas was always her favorite. She was especially known for her painted pumpkins at Halloween, and making Mark question the Christmas budget annually. Most of all she was loving, kind, and compassionate to everyone she met. She is now reunited with the love of her life Mark.
