Martha Elizabeth Hanson, 94, of Westminster, died Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, at Carroll Hospital Center. Born July 4, 1915, in Richlands, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late James and Effie Huffman Armentrout. She was the wife of Leslie Lowell Hanson, who died in 1979. She was a homemaker and a caregiver for her neighbors for many years. She worked at Old Shriver's Cannery in Westminster. She was a member of Community Baptist Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling and musical theater. Surviving are children and spouses Wilma and Joe Sharrer, Debbie Hanson, Duane Hanson, and Emma and Jim Beaver, all of Westminster, Earl and Evelyn Hanson, of Reisterstown, and Daryl and Pat Hanson, of Littlestown, Pa.; brothers Elmer and Ulysses Johnson; a sister, Rosa Ingram; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Thelma Hanson; and siblings Charles and Bill Huffman, Eva Johnson, Mary Hanson, Beulah Whetzel, Phyllis Hughes, and James and William Armentrout. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with her pastor, the Rev. Michael Roadcup, officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.
