RUPERT, WV - On Wednesday, December 16, 2015, Gary Franklin Deitz, 60, passed away following a sudden illness. Born April 3, 1955 in Rupert W.Va., Gary was the son of the late Frank and Lillian Remley Deitz.
Gary was a soft spoken, gentle man who never had anything but a kind word to say. He was an avid outdoors man, and loved to hunt and fish. His biggest enjoyment was spending time with his family and friends. Gary also loved sports. He supported local athletics and volunteered countless hours working with the Western Greenbrier baseball leagues over the years, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He was a member of Beaver Creek Baptist Church at Keiffer and Clear Creek Rod and Gun Club of Rupert. Gary has worked in the coal mines since he was 18 years old and was an employee of Greenbrier Minerals LLC of Anjean. Gary was loved, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Those left to cherish Gary's memory include the woman who stole his heart at 16, his best friend and wife of 40 years, Debra Hedrick Deitz; 2 daughters: Jennifer Deitz Bennett of Rupert, WV and Amanda Deitz of Charleston, WV; 1 son: Charles Deitz & wife Candace of Rupert, WV; 7 grandchildren: Lillian and Laurel Bennett, Lainey Williams, Emma and Chad Deitz, Addie and Ellie Deitz; Brother: Curtis Deitz of Charleston, WV; 2 sisters: Carolyn Sayre & Gary of Pauline, SC, Gayla Lazare & Andy of Kernersville, NC.
Services will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 21, 2015 at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home, Rainelle, WV, with Pastor Gary Eisenman officiating. Gary's final resting place will be at the Charles and Gladys Hedrick Family Farm Cemetery on Kessler Road, Anjean, WV. Pallbearers will be son Charlie, family and friends.
