   Cause of his death was cancer of eyes and face, both eyes completely gone.⁶⁵⁷

  General Notes:

Carydon "Carry" Blagg left his first wife, Matilda F. Forinash, and his son, William I. Blagg, Sr. sometime around 1900. According to my granfather, Carry left WV and moved to OH where he died. I have since discovered that this was not true, as Carry remarried and reared a family very near the home of his first wife in Newville, WV. According to Beulah Rhea (my grandfather's first cousin), my granfather disliked his father, presumably for deserting his family, and rarely acknowledged his existence.

According to Ruth (Blagg) McDonald, Carry and his brother George worked in a rather interesting field - counterfeiting. As her story goes, Corry and George produced enough of the fake bills to draw the attention of the Federal Government. The two brothers moved to Colorado for a while to avoid problems with the law (George remained there until his death in 1959). Supposedly, George's stash was discovered and confiscated, but Carry's remained unclaimed. Ruth asked him about it about a month before his death in 1952. His only reply was, "No one will ever find it." Looks like great-grandfather Carry might be right.
