BECKLEY - Ward J. Phipps, 67, of Beckley died Feb. 28, 1997, at home after a long illness.
He was a miner, a construction worker with Vecellio and Grogan and an Army Air Corps veteran.
Surviving: wife, Helen Elizabeth Lucas Phipps sons, Eugene at home, Larry Dale with the Army Air Corps in Byron, Ga. brothers, George T. of Ellenboro, Cecil of Levittown, Pa., Thomas L. of Williamsfield, Ohio one grandson.
There will be no visitation or service. The body was donated to Human Gift Registry, West Virginia University School of Medicine. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Human Gift Registry or Hospice of Southern West Virginia, P.O. Box 1472, Beckley, W.Va. 25802.
Ward married Helen Elizabeth LUCAS, daughter of Orville LUCAS and Virgie Florence PHIPPS. (Helen Elizabeth LUCAS was born on 14 Jul 1934 in Stickney, Raleigh Co., WV 55 and died on 4 May 1997 in Beckley, Raleigh Co., WV 55.)
