James Osborne Is Claimed By Death
SMOOT, Feb. 26 ? James M. Osborne, 70, died today at his home at Smoot of coronary thrombosis following a month's illness. A well known lumberman for around 25 years, he had been employed for the past 12 years in farming.
He was born at Vale July 12, 1882, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew A. Osborne. He was a member of the Sam Black Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Vesta Smith Osborne; three sons, Allen and Herbert Osborne, both of Flint, Mich.; and three daughters, Mrs. Hazel Harper of Detroit; Mrs. Audrey Welch of Smoot; and Mrs. Glenna Bennett of Beckley; and twelve grandchildren.
Other survivors include a brother, Clarence Osborne of Meadow Bluff; and five sisters, Mrs. Drennen of Gordonville, Va.; Mrs. Ora Callison of Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Alma Fleshman of Beckley; Mrs. Bessie Hunter of McRoss; and Mrs. Texie Henderson of Duo.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the Nickell Mortuary where the body was removed.
James married Mattie Vesta SMITH, daughter of James W. SMITH and Martha Martin BROWN, on 23 Dec 1908 in Greenbrier Co., WV.18 (Mattie Vesta SMITH was born on 10 Dec 1894 in Greenbrier Co., WV,46 died on 17 Apr 1957 46 and was buried in End Of The Trail Cemetery, Clintonville, Greenbrier Co., WV.)
