RUPERT - Julian W. Beitz, 81, of Anjean Road, died Monday morning, Nov. 3, 2008, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Ronceverte, following a short illness.
Born May 16, 1927, at Crawley, he was the son of the late Walter Beitz Sr. and Carma Crane Beitz.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Beitz Jr.
He was a member of the Amwell Baptist Church of Rupert, a member of the UMWA and a U.S. Army veteran.
Mr. Beitz had worked for 20 years in the coal mines and owned and operated Beitz Trucking Inc., doing contract work for Westvaco.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice "Bea" M. Crookshanks Beitz of Rupert; stepson, Donald Crookshanks and wife, Betty, of Rupert; sister, Jo Ann Judy and husband, Lloyd, of Michigan; sister-in-law, Ruth Beitz of Beckley; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special cousins, Pete Piercy and Bill Suttle.
Service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, at Wallace & Wallace Chapel in Rainelle, with Pastor Glen Kuhn and Pastor Charles Meadows officiating. Burial will follow at Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
