Former Page Man Killed In Accident

OAK HILL - Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Tyree Funeral Home here for Carl William Phipps, 48, of Newark, Del., formerly of Page, Fayette County.

Mr. Phipps was killed Sunday in an auto-tractor trailer collision near Elkton, Md. Burial will be in High Lawn Memorial Park here.

A native of Glen White, he was an employee at Chrystler Corp. at Newark and a veteran of World War II.

Surviving are four sons, Carl, Jr., Charles Lee, Carnel Ray, David W., all of Newark; daughters, Misses Daisy M., Laura J. and Lottie S., all of Newark; parents, Walter Phipps of Milburn and Mrs. Lottie Maynor of Beckley; brothers, Quincy of Kendallville, Ind., and Clinton of Indianapolis, Ind.; sisters, Mrs. Audrey Wahl of Fairdale, Mrs. Estelle Garrett of Fayetteville, Mrs. Beulah Taylor of Milburn Creek, Mrs. Beatrice Houchins of Beckley; three half-brothers; and two half-sisters.


Carl married Deloris RAINES on 26 Aug 1944 in Oak Hill, Fayette Co., WV.439 (Deloris RAINES was born in 1922 in Redstar, Fayette Co., WV 439.)
