HUSON, Edward Evans -- Age 77, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2003, at home with his family by his side. He was born on July 7, 1926, in Village Ferndale, Michigan, to Edward and Elma (Evans) Huson. Ed joined the United States Army in 1944, and served his country faithfully in the infantry during WWII on the European-African theaters and the occupation of Germany. On November 23, 1976, he married Arlene Zopp, in Monrovia, California. Ed retired, after 37 years from McDonald Douglas, in January of 1990. They moved from Temple City, California, to Roseburg, Oregon, in June of 1992. Ed was a regular attendant of the First Conservative Baptist Church of Roseburg. He was an avid elk hunter an loved his trips to Cortez, Colorado. Fishing was one of his happy times, meeting with friends, family, and co-workers, in the High Sierras of California. Preparing for the trip was a big thing for him. Ed was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved to help people. Ed had a heart of gold, and was always ready to give a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He will be missed by friends and family. Ed is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert and sisters, Marion and Dorothy. He is survived by his wife, Arlene of Roseburg; sons, Steve and his wife, Linda Huson of La Verne, California; Donald and his wife, Bonnie Huson of Gardenville, Nevada; daughter, Gayle and her husband, Dale Shaffer of Temple City, California; a sister, Gladys Hutchens of Macomb, Michigan and seven grandchildren. The family would like to give a special thanks to Mercy Hospice for all their care and compassion for Ed. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 13, 2003, at LONG AND SHUKLE MEMORIAL CHAPEL, in Roseburg, Oregon. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday October 14, 2003, at the First Conservative Baptist Church in Roseburg, Oregon. Pastor Ralph Preston will be officiating. There will be a private internment with the family withing the grounds of Roseburg Memorial Gardens. Contributions may be made to the Mercy Hospice in Edward's name.
