Rites Incomplete For J. E. Smith
HINES (RNS) ? The Rev. Joseph Edward Smith, 71, of Hines died Sunday morning at his home. Death was attributed to a heart attack.
He was a Baptist minister for 34 years, serving churches in Greenbrier, Nicholas, Pocahontas, Monroe and Fayette counties.
Born Oct. 20, 1894, near Rainelle, he was a son of the late Harvey and Jane Sims Smith.
He was a member of the Amwell Baptist Church at Rupert.
Survivors include his wife, Dovie Sanford Smith; two daughters, Mrs. Rovenia Boggs of Hines and Mrs. Eileen Walkup of Newport News, Va.; two sons, Garland of Rainelle and Walter H. of Hines; a sister, Mrs. Elsie Lawson of MacArthur; two brothers, Clarence and George, both of Rainelle; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The body is at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in East Rainelle. Arrangements are incomplete.
