Arbutus M. Johns McClung, 85, entered the Kingdom of her Lord and Savior, Tuesday, August 4, 2009, in Stroudsburg, Pa., after a prolonged illness. She resided with her granddaughter and husband at the time of her death.
Born October 17, 1923, in Edmond, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Lola Dorsey and Luther and Isabell Johns. She was the wife of the late Carl McClung.
Surviving are her children, Greta (Bill) Huffman of Mt. Nebo, Kay (Bill) Robertson of Roanoke, Va., Nancy Altizer of Crichton, Nila Jean (Leslie) Mullens of Charmco; a son, Pat (Patty) McClung of Jacobus, Pa.; a stepdaughter, Nina (Charles) Donaldson of Nettie; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; seven stepgrandchildren and several stepgreat-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mary Johns; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Ann Huffman; two grandchildren, Scott McClung and Kimberly Huffman Patton; two sons-in-law, Joseph Altizer and Hollie Hellems; one great-grandchild, Amber Patton; one brother, Donald Johns; one sister, Bernadine Weaver; and a special Uncle, John Parkins.
In recent years, Arbutus required a great deal of love and care, which was provided by family members and care givers. Special thanks to Dr. and Mrs. Kurt Ehrenfeuchter.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, August 8, 2009, in the Hilltop United Methodist Church under the loving direction of her son-in-law, Pastor Leslie Mullens. Burial will be in the family cemetery at Snow Hill.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today, Friday, August 7, 2009, at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Rainelle and at the church one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests friends and family honor Arbutus and her faith with a donation to Hilltop United Methodist Church, her home church.
