Train Kills Farmer Of Greenbrier County

Henry James Williams, 72, was killed instantly at 4 p.m. Saturday as he was standing on a platform at the Ronceverte railroad yard. He was struck on the back of the head by a projection on the engine of a passing freight train, throwing him backwards to the ground.

Mr. Williams, a farmer of Greenbrier county, is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rachel Kelly Williams; seven sons, Roy W., C.H., G.A., and Charles, all of Ronceverte; W.A., Blaker Mills; M.C., Wolfe Creek; C.A., Caldwell; four daughters, Mrs. Lloyd Williams, Clintonville; Mrs. Jess Loomis, Caldwell; Mrs. Roy Bland, Fort Spring; Miss Io Williams at home.

Service will be. at 2:30 p. m. tomorrow at the residence. Burial will be in End-of-the-Trail cemetery at Clintonville. The body will be removed from the Wallace and Wallace mortuary in Lewisburg to the residence at 10 a.m. today.


Henry married Rachel Tabitha KELLY, daughter of John Edward KELLY Sr. and Rachel KINCAID, on 23 Dec 1896 in Greenbrier Co., WV.716 (Rachel Tabitha KELLY was born on 20 Nov 1878 in Greenbrier Co., WV,65 died on 21 Jul 1959 in Ronceverte, Greenbrier Co., WV 30 and was buried on 23 Jul 1959 in End Of The Trail Cemetery, Clintonville, Greenbrier Co., WV 31.). The cause of her death was gangrene of right leg, diabetes mellitus.
